Green Tea Products and You

Shaun Cartwright asked:

The number of health applications for green tea continues to increase; it has excellent antioxidant properties, widely used by drug and health product manufacturers. If you are looking to use green tea products, they’re available in liquid form, for drinks, or tablets if you prefer; either way excess calories will be lost when used. It has a wide range of benefits for the human metabolism but first and foremost, it has great anti-aging properties, accelerating cell regeneration and slowing the oxidation process in the system.

With weight loss however, both the laxative effects and anti-oxidant abilities are used to help improve the metabolism. The way to stop fat from forming is by burning calories faster than they can be put on as excess weight, and this is where the product excels. This said, green tea products still need the help of the person using them because if you are eating large amounts of junk food every day without any physical activity then you will still put on weight. For it to work, adjustments to diet and mental attitude are necessary for a person to become healthier, it is not just a case of losing weight.

If you use green tea as a drink then the best time to take this is just before you retire for the night. It is quite normal for most people to find they’re stomach and bowel upset during the first few days after using the product but this should not last much longer than this. People using green tea products for the first time should not be distressed by this effect as it means the tea is doing its job of accelerating the metabolism to rid it of toxins prior to entering the bloodstream. Indications that it is working can generally be seen within seven days of use providing other aspects of the diet are followed like drinking plenty of fluids combined with physical activity, fruit and vegetables.

Sometimes you will find ginseng is mixed with green tea to improve its properties and effectiveness. The ginseng extracts add essential vitamins and supplements to the products and have been used in china for millennia. Ginseng is also beneficial for the immune system and when used in combination with green tea, helps to improve the energy level of a person who is losing weight so they do not feel so lethargic. As with many natural products, no side-effects have been found with green tea and ginseng even when use for extended weight loss periods of six months.

Do You Know the Benefits of Green Tea?

Gordon Hall asked:

The benefits of green tea may include a reduced risk of various kinds of cancer, a reduced risk of heart disease, improved brain function, increased energy, less joint pain, increased fat oxidation and improved insulin sensitivity. Most of the studies have been conducted using cell cultures in the laboratory or animal models. Because of this, some sources say that there is no “proven” human benefit. Groups such as the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine are sponsoring some studies, but some of the benefits, such as the decreased cancer risk, cannot really be proven in human beings. If everyone took the supplement from the age of four or five and we saw no cancer in future generations, then that would be actual proof, but that’s not likely to happen. What nutritionists and natural health experts recommend is that we do everything that we can, on an individual basis, to avoid known and probable carcinogens. To further reduce the risk, we should take supplements that contain lots of different antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. Because oxidation and chronic inflammation are believed to be the primary causes of cancer, heart problems and other life-threatening diseases. Research about the benefits of green tea will continue and we’ll know more, as time goes by. But, if you’re anything like me, you’re not going to wait around. Human trials take years to complete. The results are not always publicized. It’s the more interesting ones that make the news. If the results of a human study supported a reduction in cancer or heart disease, news agencies would be likely to say, “Everyone knows that!” Now, if the study found that the benefits of green tea had been overstated, you might see a report somewhere. Not long ago, a study reported that the vitamins C and E were not beneficial in cancer prevention, despite numerous earlier studies showing that they were. Study results vary due to human error and other factors. For example, the researchers might not have used the best form of those vitamins. Synthetics, which are common, are not as effective as the natural form. The best supplement manufacturers use only the most active form of vitamins and other nutrients. All of their ingredients are natural. Most of them are plant extracts. They provide the benefits of green tea, without the risk associated with increased caffeine intake. The manufacturers check the raw ingredients for contaminants like pesticides, herbicides, lead, mercury and other toxins, as well as for potency. They check the finished batch to insure quality. They may cost a little more than the generics, but that’s because they don’t include synthetics, which are much cheaper. Like many natural health experts, I believe that we can extend our life-spans and the function of our body by getting optimal nutritional intake, not the minimum daily required. When you take the right combination of nutrients, you are likely to see the benefits of green tea and an overall improvement in your health and well-being. Isn’t that what we all want? Benefit of Green Tea to Diabetes

December 22nd, 2008

Kritnaphat N. asked:

Green tea consists of high nutritional and medicinal values. Many research studies has resulted that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels as well as improving the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol and also decreased the growth of cancer levels.

Green tea consists of most powerful antioxidants and green tea is also not fermented. Green tea enhances the body’s antioxidant enzymes including glutathione that is very helpful in treating arthritis. Green tea can reduce inflammation and cartilage breakdown which will be done only with the help of Glutathione. By taking green tea regularly can protect against many diseases that are caused by free radical damage and also to diabetes.

Green tea also has a significant effect to diabetes as they can low blood pressure and sugar level in body. Green tea are ease to find and inexpensive way to preventing us from diabetes. Green tea has assist to break down of blood glucose. Research suggested that green tea may in fact help to prevent the development of diabetes while also helping to regulate blood sugar levels in those who already have diabetes. Diabetics do not produce insulin which breaks down glucose in the blood, but the use of green tea may help in regulating these blood sugar levels and so be beneficial for diabetics.

Insulin, close relate to diabetes, is made in response to the level of glucose or sugar in the bloodstream. Insulin serves two purposes: it lowers blood sugar levels and increases the availability of sugar for normal cell functioning. Either the pancreas secretes little or no insulin in response to the rise in blood sugar after a meal or the pancreas secretes a normal amount of insulin but the cells do not respond to the hormone. In either case, the result is that blood sugar levels remain high; sugar spills into the urine, and many complications, such as diabetes, can develop in the body from the abnormal blood sugar levels.

Long-term damage can be severe, including such devastating effects as gangrene (especially the feet), ulcers, kidney failure, blindness and diabetes. Diabetes is also a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke because it makes the blood vessels less elastic and more likely to become clogged with plaque.

One study found that feeding green tea to rats reduced both blood glucose and insulin levels, and those catechins were very effective starches and sucrose blockers in the digestive tracts of rats.

Similar results were observed in humans. When 300 mg (about 3 cups) of green tea were given to subjects ten minutes before taking in 50 grams of starches, their glucose and insulin levels did not rise nearly as much as was expected. Besides, because of green tea’s starch-blocking effect, it may also help get rid of excess fat, the villain that can cause diabetes or make it much worse.

Green tea is possibly the closest one can get to a miracle drink with its health benefits for a large range of variety diseases as well as for diabetes. Try some green tae for your health.

How Can Green Tea Extract Benefit Me?

December 20th, 2008

Peter Foremski asked:

Far from being just a refreshing and tasteful beverage the benefits of green tea appear to be numerous. Whilst the majority of us prefer to drink the stuff there are also many good, nutritional supplements that have the green tea extract within the tablet or capsule. Let’s briefly examine to whom this may be of help.  Top of a very long list are those who are on a weight loss program of some kind or looking to control their weight. It seems that there are some  very potent antioxidants within green tea that wok extremely well at stimulating our own bodies metabolism into burning up calories at a much faster rate than we would normally. One study in particular had taken all the other variables into consideration like making sure the participants  ate the same diet and so on. The results showed that those who had drunk the green tea consistently over a period of almost three months showed a reduction in their body fat.  In addition to this, others claim it reduces food cravings and increases your energy levels. More benefits of green tea have been assigned to sufferers of diabetes which is a big, growing problem amongst the developed nations and some say, is linked to the point mentioned above, that of obesity. Here is where these green tea antioxidants play their part again as evidence has shown that they have a stabilizing effect on blood sugar levels. Loosely touching upon the very big subject of cancer, it has shown to have  a big protective and preventative influence on the disease, but much of this research is still ongoing. Even acne sufferers have seen improvements when green tea extract is used as an externally applied form. Let’s not ignore the fact that it’s a natural plant so lessening the chances of any potential side effects. Plus for those of us looking to get the edge where ever we can on staying healthy, the benefits of green tea should not remain ignored.

Benefits of Green Tea for Any Weight Loss Program

Beck Monte asked:

Green tea is one of the most complex herbs used in the pharmaceutical industry; it has excellent antioxidant properties, widely used by drug and health product manufacturers. Green tea weight loss extracts can be purchased easily in liquid and tablet form but whichever way you take it; you will burn calories, naturally.

It has a wide range of benefits for the human metabolism but first and foremost, it has great anti-aging properties, accelerating cell regeneration and slowing the oxidation process in the system. Whilst this is an added benefit, weight loss products rely on its ability to work as a natural laxative and use it as a product that purges toxins from the system. To help stop fatty tissue from forming, products using it increase the number of calories we burn by speeding our normal metabolic rate.

The use of green tea weight loss products still requires effort on the part of the person who wants to lose weight; meaning exercise and healthy food are still required. Improvement to general eating habits is necessary because the intention to lose weight implies the dieter wants a much healthier lifestyle.

When prepared as infusion, green tea should be used in the evening before going to bed. It is possible that during the first two or three days, you may experience some bowel discomfort, but that is very likely to pass soon. By making adjustments to the metabolic rate, the body will not retain toxins long enough to enter the blood; this is how green tea weight loss products work. Providing you stick to your diet which would include exercise, an increase in fluids and vegetables you will see benefits within seven days of starting your diet.

Sometimes you will find ginseng is mixed with green tea to improve its properties and effectiveness. The ginseng extracts add essential vitamins and supplements to the products and have been used in china for millennia.

Getting back to a normal weight can be stressful but the addition of ginseng to the green tea helps provide extra energy and fortification by assisting the body’s own immune system. Neither green tea nor ginseng root have any kind of side effects, and can be administered successfully in long-term diets for as long as six months.

Ginko Biloba and Green Tea as Anti Aging Supplements

December 16th, 2008

green tea
Valerie Rosenbaum asked:

There have been many interesting studies concerning ginko biloba and green tea. These and other herbal supplements are widely used, because they are available for purchase over the counter, regulated as dietary supplements, rather than drugs. What concerns many researchers is this.

There are compounds within the herbs that have medicinal activity. They could interact with prescription medications, causing toxicity or unwanted side effects. They could also decrease or increase bioavailability.

The bioavailability of a drug, herb, nutrient or other compound has to do with the body’s ability to absorb it through the intestinal tract. Many factors combine to determine bioavailability, including the effect that stomach acid has on the compound, the size of its molecular structure and the inclusion of other compounds that help the body to absorb them.

A recent study concerning ginko biloba and green tea showed that they increase the bioavailability of certain drugs, which would mean that a person taking that drug would need a lower dose. For anyone that is wary of talking to your doctor about the herbal or other dietary supplements that you take, this is another good reason to discuss it.

Herbs react with drugs in different ways. There is at least one drug, a cancer drug, which is rendered inactive and therapeutically useless by the catechins found in green tea.

The interactions between drugs and herbs have not been completely studied. There are hundreds of possible interactions. The interaction could be beneficial or negative. If you are currently under a doctor’s treatment, be sure to list the herbal remedies and dietary supplements that you take along side any medications that you are currently taking.

If you are a relatively healthy individual, the benefits of ginko biloba and green tea are to your brain, your heart and your long-term health. The supplements combine to improve alertness and the ability to concentrate. Gingko increases the amount of oxygen that is present in brain cells. Both of the herbs improve circulation and have antioxidant activity.

Antioxidants are nutrients that protect our body from reactive molecules commonly referred to as free radicals. There are lots of different radicals in our bodies. They are byproducts of many cellular processes. Some antioxidants act as reducing agents to convert them to innate substances, like water. Others stimulate the production of antioxidants within cellular DNA.

Those antioxidants protect the DNA strands from mutation and damage that can lead to cancer. The antioxidants in ginko biloba and green tea are relatively weak. They are simply reducing agents like vitamin C. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant. It is one of the few that are known to stimulate the production of antioxidants within the cell.

Health experts disagree on many issues. But, there are two subjects that they agree upon. Discuss your health supplements with your doctor and increase your daily antioxidant intake, either by eating more antioxidant-rich foods or by taking a well-designed health supplement. Some of the best supplements contain ginko biloba and green tea, along with dozens of other nutrients that protect our current and long-term health.

Advantages of Green Tea for Bodybuilders

December 14th, 2008

green tea
Dane Fletcher asked:

Green tea is consumed widely in most places of the world for its taste as well as antioxidant behaviors. Green tea contains a family of molecules called ECGC, or epigallocatechin gallate, which contains anti-oxidants about 100 times stronger than Vitamin C. It’s been shown in numerous studies to reduce levels of total cholesterol in the human body, and many of its health benefits may still be unknown. It’s a popular drink whose daily intake rivals water and coffee worldwide, and a good dietary option for most people.
Performance enhancement
For bodybuilders, it offers all of these benefits and more. Green tea’s ingredient EGCG actually increases exercise capacity by allowing for greater utilization of fatty acids which server as a source of energy during intense workouts. Additionally, green tea can also lead to weight loss. Green tea consumption results in a 24-hour window of increased respiratory ability, which leads to better oxidation performance of the body.
As a substitute
Bodybuilders typically need to consume about one gallon of water per day. This becomes tedious for some, who choose to add sweetener or Crystal Light to their water to make it more palatable. Using green tea instead of one of these choices helps the athlete avoid the unknowns that come with consuming a drink containing saccharin or NutraSweet. And any substance which encourages bodybuilder to intake more water (the largest ingredient in muscle) is always a very good thing.
Dosage
Recommended dosage of green tea is 100 to 500 mg per day. Stacking it with caffeine can also be beneficial. Supplements often contain caffeine as well as EGCG for an added boost, so that should be taken in account for those individuals seeking caffeine (for a great workout boost), or avoiding it for health reasons or in an attempt to gain weight. After all, caffeine is a great aid for bodybuilder in staying lean, but does hinder weight gain.

The Effects of Green Tea Dieting on Weight Loss

December 12th, 2008

Shaun Cartwright asked:

Uses of green tea are still being explored by medical science in research that may take many years; the antioxidant properties (and a host of others) of green tea are becoming well known around the world, especially in the diet and health markets. If you are looking to use green tea diet products, they’re available in liquid form, for drinks, or tablets if you prefer; either way excess calories will be lost when used. In addition to weight loss functions, it can also help slow the signs of aging by helping to speed up the regenerative functions of the cells.

When used in weight loss products, it shows some amazing qualities like helping the metabolism by ridding the system of toxins and using the natural laxative quality it possesses. To help stop fatty tissue from forming, products using it increase the number of calories we burn by speeding our normal metabolic rate. The wonderful work that green tea diet supplements can do is easily undermined by a person whom believes they no longer need to contribute because it will do everything for them without any effort on their part. For it to work, adjustments to diet and mental attitude are necessary for a person to become healthier, it is not just a case of losing weight.

If you use green tea as a drink then the best time to take this is just before you retire for the night. It is possible that during the first two or three days, you may experience some bowel discomfort, but that is very likely to pass soon. This is not something to be concerned about as it only normally affects someone who has never taken green tea diet products before and then because the tea is improving the body’s metabolism. Results are normally obvious within the first week, particularly if you complete the diet with physical exercise, lots of liquids and green food.

Extracts from the ginseng root are often mixed with green tea as combined; the two prove to be more effective. Ginseng has also been used in Chin and Tibet for many thousands of years and helps by adding vitamins and minerals to supplement those already being used in the detoxification process. When ginseng is used in association with green tea it stimulates the immune system and fortifies the user, representing a valuable energy source, during the stressful period when you are returning to normal weight. Neither green tea nor ginseng root have any kind of side effects, and can be administered successfully in long-term diets for as long as six months.

Some News on Green Tea and Prostate Cancer?

December 10th, 2008

green tea
Peter Foremski asked:

I’ve been touched on a personal level on more than one occasion by the sad news that someone I know, whether a friend or family member has been diagnosed with this terrible disease. Given the dramatic advances within the medical world we all hope and pray that a cure is found one day soon. My curiosity was thus aroused when I glanced at a recent headline which talked about green tea and prostate cancer. These eye catching headlines never give the reader a full account and this article will examine just some of the main points under debate. No one is hailing green tea as being a wonder cure as that’s certainly not the case, but it was being talked about more in the way of its protective qualities as a preventative tool which is what surely works best. I’ve been hearing about antioxidants for ages and how good they are at alleviating or combating things like the aging process and free radicals, which seem to go hand-in-hand whenever one reads about antioxidants in general.  Seems that green tea’s antioxidants which are called Catechins are considered as having quite powerful effects. Nowhere more so than when we talk about the different carcinogens that may go on to cause the actual disease. What green tea does is to reduce their potential to do the latter by lowering their toxicity. Another of its claims is to actually inhibit the formation of tumors, again directly attributed to these antioxidants. Where ever preventative action like drinking green tea is truly effective only time will tell but considering it’s a natural product which has been around since the ancient Chinese discovered it, maybe there’s no harm in trying it. Like many of us who may already take a vitamin supplement as a daily ritual I’m happy to mention I’ve also found one that has a green tea extract on it’s ingredient list.  Whilst the debate about green tea rolls on, we can and should take some small, personal steps to keep ourselves healthy and reduce the chances of catching any disease.

Lose the Green Tea: Weight Loss Diets That Actually Work

December 8th, 2008

green tea
Aaron Patterson asked:

The Green Tea Diet. The Cabbage Soup Diet. The Peanut Butter Diet. Over the past few years, it seems like someone’s created a diet centered around every food item imaginable. (Well, almost every food-I’m still waiting to see the Chocolate Chip Cookie Diet.) It pains me to see these diets advertised. I mean, millions of human beings have managed to live perfectly healthy lives for thousands of years without basing their diets on a single food. My Irish ancestors probably didn’t even know what green tea was-and yet they got by just fine. Lose the green tea diet idea. Green tea really is good for you, but it’s not the magic concoction that will wash your weight away. In fact, consuming any food to excess can be dangerous. When we eat or drink a lot of one thing, we tend to exclude the consumption of other things which may have had essential vitamins or minerals that we needed. If you’re not eating a well-rounded, hearty diet, you’re putting your health at risk. So how can you lose weight while still eating a healthy, diverse array of foods? The trick lies in the fact that what and how much you eat aren’t as important as when you eat it. Contrary to popular wisdom, your overriding concern when trying to lose weight should be increasing your metabolism. A newly developed, scientific technique for controlling metabolism has emerged over the past few years. It’s called calorie cycling. Calorie cycling works by varying the amount of calories you consume day by day. Days where you consume a lot of calories cause your metabolism to increase, at which point you consume fewer calories, but the body continues to metabolize food at a heightened rate. The result: weight loss. In large part, the old school diet gurus have started running scared and created all these gimmick diets because the calorie cycling technique is so effective. New diets which take advantage of calorie cycling are emerging, like FatLoss4Idiots. The FatLoss4Idiots system designs a meal program for you which maximizes your metabolic rate-and consequently, your fat loss. The results are astounding-people are safely losing 9 pounds in 11 days, or more, and keeping it off with FatLoss4Idiots. If you don’t believe me, try it risk free for yourself!
